Since we've heard about it from friends who had memories of great meals there in years past, we made a point to have dinner there on our last trip to the area. To be honest, we really don't understand all the hype about Dillard House. You will have to decide for yourself if it is for you.

The floor to ceiling windows overlooking the mountains & Dillard countryside are worth the return for me, even if I do have to endure the increasingly mediocre food and service. Our party of three was $60 for breakfast & around $85 for dinner & that was with no alcohol. Over the years the cost has gone up significantly. The best thing on the table was the sweet potatoes, which were much tastier than they appeared to be. The fried okra, my personal favorite, was lukewarm at best. The cabbage casserole was something savage. The ribs were very dry & the BBQ sauce was watery & flavorless. The food brought to the table was good, but some was not very fresh & getting cold. The breakfast buffet had the most gorgeous fresh flower arrangements. This trip, my family stayed in one of the chalets & we had breakfast & dinner on site during our visit. The quality of the food has suffered quite a bit as well. I don’t know if it’s management change or just a reflection of the times, but service certainly is not what it once was. The past few times I have visited I have become. When I was a kid, I couldn’t get over the abundance of flavorful home style food that just kept on coming. I have eaten here many times throughout my life, and I’m in my 40’s. Restaurants for Group Dining in Dillard.
